What we do
UKGHP promotes the benefits of hypnosis and hypnotic trance especially in personal development as well for therapeutic, coaching, business and creative ends.
The use of hypnosis covers several hypnotic trance-based approaches, such as hypnotherapy and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), which help people to enhance their lives, improve well-being and achieve positive change.
We provide accredited training in hypnosis and NLP for personal use, for therapy, business development, research and creativity.
We offer our broad membership of hypnosis-based practitioners support and community to develop their practice.
Our History
Originally known as The UK Guild of Hypnotist Examiners (UKGHE) the organisation was founded by Wilf Proudfoot in 1983, making it one of the oldest hypnotherapy organisation in the UK. An inspirational teacher of Hypnosis and NLP, over more than twenty years, Wilf trained several thousands of people from all over the world.
Wilf believed that the most important thing that a therapist could do was give people the experience of trance. His classes were always fun and often life-changing for the people who took them. He died just over ten years ago, having impressed upon his students the enjoyment to be had in the discoveries that hypnosis brings.
This understanding is still at the heart of the positive approach to hypnosis embodied in the UKGHP.
The current Chair of UKGHP is Lisa Morgan who trained in hypnosis, hypnotherapy and NLP at the Proudfoot School of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy with Wilf in the early 90s. She has been training people in hypnosis and associated skills since 1996 mainly in the UK and in Asia. She is the author of two books, ‘Voice in the Own Words, Teenagers Predict the Future’ about the unconscious visions of over 130 young people, published in Japan in 2002 and ‘Comply with Me: Trump’s Hypnosis Toolkit Exposed’ (2020) revealing the hidden persuasion skills of Donald Trump and other politicians. Her third book about hypnotic trance is being prepared for publication later this year.
